A spotlight, a dark tree line, and a few seconds of alarm: a Kentucky witness says a back-road outing ended with a glimpse of something he identified as Bigfoot. The story is intriguing. Its identification remains unverified.
Freshness check, October 14, 2026: This is the freshest visual encounter Apep Bar could trace to a detailed source during this search, not a claim that no newer sighting exists. OutKick coverage appeared October 5; the encounter itself reportedly happened August 23.
What the witness reported
In BFRO report 82512, Clayton Sims describes a nighttime outing in Larue County, Kentucky. After hearing knocking and responding with a whistle, he says he illuminated a large, dark, hairy figure. He estimated its height at seven to eight feet.
Investigator Charlie Raymond’s follow-up describes a roughly five-second observation. Raymond considered Sims credible. However, the submission estimates about 40 yards of distance, while the follow-up gives 50–60 yards. That difference matters when assessing size estimates in darkness.
A newer report—but nothing seen
The BFRO recent-additions list also includes a September 28 Arkansas encounter. In report 82619, a lone bowhunter near Lake Norfork describes two unexplained howls. That is an auditory report, not a visual sighting.
Where curiosity meets evidence
A sincere witness can still misidentify what they see. A brief view, uncertain distance, and limited illumination leave room for alternative explanations, including a familiar animal, a person, or mistaken perception. Those are possibilities to investigate, not findings about this incident.
The cited Kentucky report does not supply independently authenticated imagery or a biological sample establishing Bigfoot. An investigator’s confidence in a witness is an assessment of testimony; it cannot by itself establish the identity of the figure.
For a stronger case, investigators would need evidence other people can examine: original recordings, reliable scale and location information, corroborating accounts, or physical material with documented handling. The forest may keep its secrets, but an extraordinary identification still needs evidence that survives daylight.

If you had five seconds to look into those woods, what would convince you that you had seen something unknown?
Question. Investigate. Reconsider.
