BOXFORD, MASSACHUSETTS — October 24, 2026. A recent account of a strange nighttime encounter has attracted interest among Dogman enthusiasts. According to a report published October 23 by Dead of Night Dispatch, a high school senior driving friends home from the Topsfield Fair on October 12 said they noticed a humanlike figure moving on all fours near a dark lawn in Boxford.
The reported encounter
The teenager reportedly described something that looked like a person crawling toward the road. As headlights illuminated the area, the figure allegedly moved backward into the shadows. The account does not establish the figure’s identity, size, or species.
Why Dogman?
Dogman is a name used in North American folklore for alleged canine-humanoid creatures. Similarities between a witness description and a familiar legend, however, are not evidence that the legendary creature exists.
What could explain it?
Low light, limited viewing time, a person moving unusually, an animal, or misperception are possibilities. No independently authenticated video, tracks, biological samples, or official wildlife assessment have been presented in the reporting reviewed for this article.
What investigators should seek
Useful next steps would include interviewing all vehicle occupants separately, establishing the precise location and lighting, obtaining original dashcam or security footage if available, and checking contemporaneous animal-control reports. Until those checks occur, this remains an unverified eyewitness claim.
