October 13, 2026 | Apep Bar News Wire — A giant glowing creature seemed to bloom in the sky before breakfast. Witnesses across parts of the eastern United States saw bright tendrils unfurl in the dawn. A sky jellyfish? An otherworldly visitor? The reality was almost as photogenic and far easier to verify.
What launched at dawn
At approximately 6:35 a.m. Eastern Tuesday, October 13, a SpaceX Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, on the CRS-35 cargo mission for NASA. A Dragon spacecraft was headed for the International Space Station with scientific experiments and supplies. Space.com documented the launch and spectacular sky photographs.
Why a rocket can look like a glowing sea creature
High above Earth, the atmosphere becomes thinner. Exhaust released from a climbing rocket expands into a broad, billowing plume. Shortly before sunrise, observers at ground level may still be in darkness while the plume catches sunlight at altitude. Bright expanding gas against a dark sky can produce a dramatic fan or jellyfish-like shape.
That strange geometry is not evidence of a second spacecraft. It is the interaction of rocket exhaust, altitude, sunlight, and the observer’s location. Jacksonville’s News4JAX also reported the display and connected it to the CRS-35 liftoff.
The twist worth remembering
The most fantastic-looking phenomenon can have an entirely documented origin. That does not make eyewitnesses foolish. It makes the sky—and the physics of seeing it—astonishing. Video timing, trajectory, launch records, and photographs from different locations are precisely the tools that distinguish a mysterious sight from an unexplained object.
Evidence status: Launch and visible plume confirmed; extraterrestrial explanation not supported.
